Birds eye view of a burlesque performer in a theater seat

Growing up I've always had a desire to go into the arts.

Shortly after moving to New York from Lesotho to live with my father's side of the family, my four-year-old self came familiar with the concept of "showbiz". With direct access to theatrical media such as the Rockettes, Broadway, and the Macy's parade, I got a good grasp of what I wanted in life.

A few months after, my family moved down to North Carolina and I started dancing at a local studio. Throughout my childhood I tried many different sports but ultimately found myself in dance. My family and I moved to Michigan for a year when I was nine. I got the opportunity to take a summer intensive at the Grand Rapids Ballet, and fell in love with ballet specifically. When we all moved back down to NC, I began taking classes at the Greensboro Ballet. I performed in many Nutcrackers and other shows for years until I quit towards the end of 8th grade.

I decided to pursue the arts and got into an arts high school with a concentration in visual art. I graduated and later went to a university to pursue animation with a minor in dance. I took some adult classes as the Greensboro Ballet as well, to get adjusted to a dancers lifestyle again.

Halfway into my freshman year of college I decided that I should pursue drag. As a long term lover of all things antique, creating Garnet's image was the perfect challenge for me. My years long love for geology and my everlasting fascination with outer space and old hollywood led to the creation of the name Garnet Starlet. I ended up winning a competition of my second ever drag performance. That gave me the boost and the confidence to truly keep the whole idea going. At the begining of my Sophoomore year, I got a job as a dance teacher. Futher plunging me into the world of the arts.
